Request advice when the surgery is closed

If you need urgent medical advice or attention when Reception is closed between 18.00 and 08.30, over a weekend or on a bank holiday, simply ring the normal surgery number.

You will be automatically transferred to the Communications Centre in Leicester who will triage your call and put you in touch with the team of local Doctors on call at Loughborough Walk-in-Centre.

Make sure you have a pen and paper handy.

Request a home visit

The Doctors will visit you at home, if necessary. When you ask for a home visit the receptionist will always put two or three questions to you, not to cause offence, but to try and deal with requests for visits as efficiently as possible. You will almost always be asked if you are able to get to the Surgery and you will always be asked what the problem is. A brief description allows us to determine the urgency of your request. If there is any doubt about this the receptionist may put you through to the Doctor on call, or arrange for the Doctor to ring you back. Home visits are usually reserved for those who are housebound or who are genuinely too ill to come to the surgery. You will usually be encouraged to come to us, if at all possible, especially when it is a young child that is ill. You can help us by making home visit requests before 10.00am when there is usually one Doctor free to deal with these visits.

Request a repeat prescription

In the patients’ best interest, the Doctors like to see patients they are prescribing for. However, for those patients who are on regular treatments the Doctor may authorise several ‘repeat’ prescriptions. The patient is requested to see their Doctor for a check-up when the due date has been reached, and then the process starts again.

Please allow at least 24 hours for a repeat prescription to be processed.

and

48 hours following a request for any item(s) not covered by the repeat prescription service.

Please note that the above timings do not include weekends and bank holidays

Chaperones

If you feel you would like a trained chaperone to be present during a consultation or for an intimate examination, we will do our best to make one available. There will, however, be occasions where a chaperone may not be available e.g. a Friday afternoon. If this is the case you will be asked to come back at another time when one can be made available. Before any intimate examination you should be offered a chaperone, if this is not the case please make your wishes known.
